Suit Up
There’s no sugar coating it: It’s bad out there.
The very powers entrusted to protect the natural world and serve humanity are inflicting the most pain and abuse - all ultimately for individual profit, even at the expense of everything and everyone else. It’s lie upon lie and utterly corrupt. It’s the moral rot that happens when we disregard human dignity. It’s what happens when we forget that we belong to one another.
What can we do? I keep thinking about the example of Mr. Rogers. Each day, he put on a cardigan his mother had knitted for him (no doubt, a reminder that he was loved) and changed into comfortable shoes. Then, he told whoever he encountered that they mattered, that their feelings mattered, and that he cared about them.
Whatever else we do to resist dehumanizing and death-dealing powers, it really boils down to that. We do carry sacred worth. We do belong to one another. And no one can take that away. Let’s suit up, people: Rogers style.

Beautifully said.❤️
That’s right, we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
